ProStart®

ProStart is a restaurant school-to-career program ran by the Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Designed for high school juniors and seniors, ProStart prepare students for careers in the foodservice industry through academic and workplace experiences. Students receive classroom training and enter into paid apprenticeships with industry professionals. Completion of the program includes the entire two-year ProStart classroom instruction, passing the exam provided by the National Restaurant Association and 400 hours of supervised work experience and/or mentoring with the industry.

Each year participating ProStart students showcase their talents in cooking, knife skills and restaurant management proficiency in front of Chef judges at the Boyd Coffee ProStart Invitational. Last year 21 high schools competed for more than $400,000 in culinary scholarships. Learn more about this Iron-Chef style throwdown here>>>
